Medica is engaged in our communities through the charitable grantmaking work of the Medica Foundation and through active employee giving and volunteer programs. Medica hosts a 12-week, paid Internship Program each Summer! Interns will have the opportunity to network within Medica and with other Interns. We host weekly Lunch-and-Learns where Interns are provided the opportunity to hear from Medica’s Executives. We strive to offer a well-rounded education of the inner workings of a health plan. Each internship offers a meaningful experience and impactful projects you’ll be able to discuss with future employers. Interns have the opportunity to hear from past Medica Interns that were hired on as well as attend a volunteer opportunity within the community. At Medica, we look forward to our Summer Internship Program each year. The Enterprise Program Management Office (EPMO) is a new function for Medica and will be responsible for ensuring the company’s capital expense portfolio is delivered on time and on budget by identifying and managing risks and facilitating cross-initiative issue resolution. The main components of the EPMO’s scope will include: Provide enterprise “air traffic control” to manage project risks, potential collisions and dependencies Develop and deliver an enterprise view of project schedule, budget and quality performance Assess organizational capacity and human capital needs Implement methodology for project governance and controls Coordinate with Medica’s Strategic Prioritization Committee (SPC) and business segment leaders on issue resolution and decision making Develop end state vision and multi-year roadmap for EPMO capability Anticipated outcomes for internship: The intern will assist in the development of processes, systems and tools to help the EPMO to manage and monitor performance for a multi-million dollar project portfolio. The intern will participate in senior executive level meetings where key decisions are made and will have the opportunity to present their work to executives as part of the decision making process. The intern will have exposure to all key functions of health plan operations including: operations, IT, health services, provider network, and business unit general management. Requirements: Junior or Senior pursuing Bachelor’s Degree or Graduate Degree Business Administration, Management, Sales, Marketing or related field of study preferred Skills & Abilities: Is easy to approach and talk to, builds rapport quickly and is a good listener who commits extra effort to put others at ease Makes good decisions based upon a mixture of analysis and judgment.
