As our Data Engineer Analyst, you will support the Biosciences Division, which represents over $2B in sales annually. The journey will be intense, but impactful and rewarding. How will you make an impact? We are looking for a Data Engineer Analyst that sees beyond just reports and is a strong advocate of efficiency and optimization. The ideal candidate is inquisitive and eager to find (and communicate) nuances and details many others could miss. You enjoy exploring more varied and complex data streams to piece together for use towards generating actionable business insights. You relish going beyond marketing data such as web analytics, operations, HR, finance, lead funnels, contracts, offline, loyalty, CRM, and other sources used for business intelligence. You are versed in industry-leading analytics strategies and are always looking for ways to improve performance digitally and offline. You are comfortable pivoting and flexing as needed, as we continually evolve and refine our methodologies. Curiosity and critical thinking are key, as well as, balancing details and the bigger picture. Self-assessment and continual growth are mandatory in analytics, as the field constantly changes (i.e. shifts in search engine algorithms, data flow approaches, tools, etc.). Data and figuring out new uses and approaches must fascinate you, but you are also proactive with information sharing to improve processes and tribal knowledge. In our world, perfection is the enemy of good, so you must be comfortable with 80% complete data. You are willing to be proactive and to dig in, to surface and adjust for nuances. Do you find it thrilling stripping down old hypotheses and creating new ones, followed by observation, testing, and further modifications? Do you have a knack for multitasking and efficiently getting tasks done as you pivot from one to another? When you have enough directional data are you capable of sifting out insights to guide the business? If so, you may be a great fit. How will you grow? Thermo Fisher has numerable educational resources that go beyond analytics to become familiar in other areas of interest (Data Science, Digital Marketing, etc.). Some courses provide university credits for UCI! There are also many skills training (Microsoft Office Tools, Process Improvement, etc). There are also career planning resources that cover and go beyond management and leadership training (ex: conflict resolution, problem solving, communication, body language, diversity & inclusion, etc). A strong employee appreciation program and dedicated budget are also in place. Mentorship and guidance will be provided by teammates and the BID Analytics Leader at a minimum as there are many other employee involvement programs, as well. Reporting directly into the BID Analytics Leader, you will receive regular coaching, two-way feedback, air-cover, and genuine appreciation on jobs well done. She will support your growth opportunities within the team and beyond as she notably cares for the well-being of her team. Recurring and ad hoc integrated reporting to help business units assess health and performance Assess and improve efficiencies and automation to permit time for proactive support and insights Maintenance of existing and to-be-built reports and processes Methodologies to determine ROI of various marketing efforts Exploration of complex and novel data sources within the organization for use in future reporting and analysis Relationship management between analytics and partners (marketers, executives, cross-divisional groups) Enable stakeholders and teammates with documentation of techniques, best practices, conducting training sessions, etc. Continual self-education to improve techniques and evolve our analytics processes and strategy Domestic and international travel 10% or less of the time How will you get here? Bachelor’s degree or above required 3 years of data experience required: web, digital media, BI, CRM, data lakes etc. Expertise in PowerBI data transformation, integration, processes, optimization, and visualization required Strong experience with Cognos (or similar) Advanced MS Excel Programming languages: SQL, R, Python, etc. Preferred Statistics Tagging implementation/QA Data Science Marketing experience Experience working in a large corporation within a matrix org structure Relocation Benefits This position does not offer relocation benefits, but remote applicants will be considered.
