About the role: Boston Scientific is seeking a highly motivated IT Solution Architect to define and support solutions that enable the US Cardiac Rhythm Management (RM) and Electrophysiology (EP) divisions to enhance and extend patients' lives with the most advanced and least invasive rhythm management technologies available. This role will report to the Director, Rhythm Management Commercial IT. Your responsibilities include: RM/EP Operating Model: Definitions A Business Capability Model is the set of abilities or skills an organization requires to execute its business objectives and fulfill its mission. An Operating Model is the Business Capability Model and the applications, information, integrations, technologies, and organizations that enable the capabilities. This role’s Operating Model Responsibilities : Complete, publish, and maintain the RM/EP Operating Model. Collaborate with other BSC Architects to build a comprehensive BSC Commercial Operating Model. Leverage the RM/EP Operating Model for solutions lifecycle planning, specifically to build and maintain an application heatmap showing runout of legacy applications and rollout of new applications. Link applications in the Operating Model to the Solution Architecture of each application (below). RM/EP IT Solutions Architecture : Build the 7 BSC standard solution models for each new RM/EP solution and major architectural solution change. Stand solution models: Business capabilities enabled by the solution High level End-to-End activities model for users of the application (business flow) A high-level data model showing the data elements and relationships which will be used within the solution/application using common names used by the MDM (Master Data Management) team where applicable. Register new data elements which will be “mastered” within this solution Data flow model showing other BSC or external application environments this environment will interact with, the type of data being exchanged, the network protocols used, and the frequency and mode of the exchanges Application partitioning model across the hardware environment and the software technology used to build/implement this application including the software “stack” implemented on each device to allow the viewer of this model to relate back to the End-to-End model Threat model showing the applicable security controls, data protection, BSC authentication systems to be leveraged, external employee and/or 3 rd party access, etc. Deployment model showing the different environments being proposed including site location, environments needed to support the application lifecycle, hardware component connections, new/existing/replaced hardware components Verify the architecture of current operational RM/EP applications or perform solution archeology to reconstruct the architecture of current operational applications if not available or current. Create, verify, or update the applications’ technology components in the configuration management database (Remedy CMDB) Architecture Practices, Processes, and Tools: Represent RM/EP and demonstrate leadership in the BSC Architecture Community to define, refine and implement architecture roles, processes, framework and methodologies, tools, and repository. What we're looking for: Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience 10+ years of combined IT business analyst, software development, and architect experience Hands-on experience with or at least one architecture framework (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman, DoDAF, ISO 19439, Dragon1, etc.), architecture notation (e.g., ArchiMate, 4+1 View Model, UML, etc.), and an architecture modeling tool (e.g., Sparx Enterprise Architect, LeanIX, Planview, etc.) Software development and support experience in regulated environment Strong verbal and written communication skills Experience collecting and documenting business capability needs and recommending solutions in a strategic plan Preferred Qualifications Strong team building skills, with ability to build quick and effective work rapport with distributed team members Experience with Agile methodologies Proven leadership in partnering with external vendors and business partners on projects Self-motivated in learning new concepts and willing to share knowledge and skills with others Outspoken and passionate about delivering well designed solutions that exceed business objectives and drive business success Well organized and capable of juggling numerous priorities Advanced analytical and reasoning skills Medical device, life sciences industry background Understanding of software development lifecycle and methodologies SAP ECC and experience About us As a global medical technology leader for more than 35 years, our mission at Boston Scientific (NYSE: BSX) is to transform lives through innovative medical solutions that improve the health of patients.
