The Shorty Awards honor the best of social and digital media by recognizing the influencers, brands and organizations doing the most creative and effective work on the platforms. Past winners include brands and agencies such as VaynerMedia, GoPro, Edelman, HBO, AT&T, NFL, Michael Kors and NASA. Influencers including Cardi B, Tyler Oakley, Casey Neistat, Malala Yousafzai, Ricky Thompson, J.K. Rowling, and Shane Dawson have won Shorty Awards too.
What happens on social media can change the world, create new stars and ignite global movements. The Shorty Awards were the first awards to honor social media, and by constantly evolving along with the medium it honors The Shortys remains the most prominent award show of its kind, engaging an online audience of millions and culminating in a blockbuster ceremony in New York City.
The Shorty Awards are looking for an experienced Account Executive to join the team to help grow the competition. The ideal candidate is interested in sales, social media, marketing, advertising and the tech-startup lifestyle.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Lead generation, pipeline maintenance and entry outreach
Setting up meetings and calls with agencies, brands and organizations to encourage them to enter in the Shorty Awards
Identify, invite and recruit various high level individuals and executives to join our Academy
Work with various partners to create a stronger academy membership program, including but limited to speaking opps, thought leadership pieces, networking opps, etc.
Develop and grow our entrant community, increasing the value proposition for those entering the competition
Create/design graphics and videos for social announcements
Develop and manage social media & content calendars, track & report weekly social media analytics
Research, write and/or source various content pieces for Shortys blog and social outlets to increase inbound interest from potential entrants
Contributing to creative development within the brand including social media content, video content and more
Plan and execute various marketing initiatives to drive new entrants
Building relationships within the advertising, marketing, PR, entertainment and social media industries
1-3 years of experience working in digital marketing, sales, social media or business/community development
Social Media experience managing accounts for a brand or organization (Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram)
Experience using Photoshop, InDesign, and/or similar software
Interest in writing short-form across social channels, blogs, emails and more
Polite and professional manner exercising patience and diplomacy in high stress environment
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Experience using Google Apps (Gmail, Calendar, Docs, Sheets), Dropbox, Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and LinkedIn
Self-starter, hungry to help make an impact at a growing tech startup
Ability to wear multiple hats, jump into projects where needed and ready to do whatever it takes to achieve goals
