Job Description

The Crude Oil Marketing Manager position will be responsible for commercial activity in Oklahoma, Kansas and Texas through the combination of lease and bulk purchases/sales. Develops and executes market plans and objectives to ensure achievement of strategic revenue objectives. Provides technical expertise to management and represents the Company to customers, outside businesses. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Operates in a complex environment to achieve strategic revenue objectives. Plans and conducts assignments using a high level of knowledge of all crude oil markets, as well as organization policies and practices. Operates with considerable latitude for actions or decisions that are not generally reviewed. Works with executives to identify and develop effective crude oil market management strategies and plans. Ensures that market management plans are consistent with company goals and objectives. Develops an overall strategic and operational sales plan for specific accounts in an assigned area with the purpose to increase sales and gross margin. Obtains market intelligence with respect to market opportunities. Identifies target accounts; communicates internally via weekly call reports, monthly summaries, and weekly planning sheets. Functions as the primary contact for major customers. Collaborates with internal and external resources to obtain technical and customer information needed to compete for business. Maintains positive relationships with current customers as well as developing new customers to expand the customer base. Expends energy on competitive business as directed by sales, marketing and supply. Supports other company initiatives. Solicits sales and negotiates product contracts in compliance with approved trading protocol. Performs profit and loss analysis on proposed sales in order to ensure appropriate margins. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Bachelor Degree in Business or other appropriate discipline from an accredited four-year college or university and four (4) or more years’ related experience in the energy industry. A combination of education, experience and training may be substituted for these requirements. Valid driver’s license required. Must be able to read, write and speak the English language at a college level, perform mathematical calculations required for the position and learn to interpret and comprehend company policies, procedures, safety instructions, and other like documents used in an energy industry environment. Competent in the use of standard software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel and operation of standard office equipment. Make telephone and direct personal contact with internal and external personnel and make formal presentations to small or large groups. May perform work of lesser skilled employees. LEVEL OF MANAGEMENT OVERSIGHT AND CONTROL Internal - Serves as a prime consultant and external spokesperson for the organization on highly significant matters related to marketing and related policies, programs, capabilities and objectives. Specialized External – Interacts with customers and peers from supplier and end-user organizations. Maintains excellent relations with all customer accounts, identifies, and resolve all issues with professionalism and integrity MANAGEMENT REPORTING LEVEL AND IMPACT OF DECISIONS Works without appreciable direction. Guidance as to objectives, critical issues and policy. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and methods. WORKING CONDITIONS Work is normally performed in a climate-controlled environment, where exposure to conditions of extreme heat/cold, poor ventilation, fumes and gases is very limited. Noise level is moderate and includes sounds of a normal office environment. No environmental hazards are encountered in performance of normal job duties. PHYSICAL DEMANDS Work normally requires finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination to operate computer keyboard at moderate skill level. Work may require occasional pushing, pulling, or carrying 20-pound objects such as files, documents, and computer printouts. Work involves air and automobile travel. Requires frequent sitting, standing and walking. Must be able to drive automobiles under various weather conditions.
