Job Description

As an Insourced Product Specialist, you will be responsible for providing sales support, customer service and administrative assistance to field associates and policyholders on Disability Income, Long Term Care, and Medicare insurance products. You will also ensure department and Agency compliance, perform reporting and analysis, train other team members and provide backup for the contracting and maintenance of general agents and producers. Description of Duties & Responsibilities: Provide field associates with timely, accurate, complete, courteous and sensitive responses to their inquiries. Develop and maintain carrier relationships with the disability income, long term care and Medicare marketplace. Prepare and submit paperwork to facilitate long term care and disability income carrier appointment process for field associates. Process disability and long term care insurance applications. Assemble and distribute policies, applications and product brochures. Provide support as needed to Agency. Complete initial set up of new Agencies, contract and terminate agents. Order background checks, verify paperwork for completeness, prepare correspondence and prepare files for retention. Process and oversee appointment renewals for agents contracted with Security Mutual Life. Build sensitive, professional relationships with high profile agents. Process the setup of unique, high profile agent contracts and handle the maintenance through the life of the contract. Adhere to contract provisions and notify management of any issues. Act as compliance subject matter expert for Anti-Money Laundering, Regulation 187 and other state and federal regulations. Update and maintain procedure documentation and department policies to remain compliant. Provide relevant materials to and train agents and team members on compliance updates. Prepare and distribute illustrations for SML Agency Services and general agents as needed. Provide other materials, product support and follow up as needed. Run, analyze and interpret periodic reports. Coordinate information from internal and external sources and incorporate industry analysis in reporting. Maintain administrative software for General Agencies, Brokers, Career Agents and Regional Contacts. Handle more complex processing issues, provide processing support and assist with training. Required skills & experience: 6 years of customer service experience required. Minimum of 4 years of life insurance industry experience required. 4-6 years of experience in disability insurance required. 2 years of experience in agency contracting required. 2 years of experience with Medicare and long term care products, compliance and administration preferred. Familiarity with state laws and regulations relating to disability insurance, long term care and the licensing, contracting, and appointment of insurance agents required. NYS Life, Accident & Health License or ability to obtain license within 6-12 months preferred. Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office product suite required. Strong professional written and verbal communication skills required. Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly. Ability to pay close attention to detail. Ability to prioritize and organize a heavy workload. Education Required: Associate’s degree in Business required. The level for this position will be determined based on factors including relevant skills, experience and other qualifications.
