Return to Search FRONT DESK AGENT (WINTER SEASON) AT DESTINATION RESIDENCES VAIL Destination Hotels Destination Resorts Vail CO - Vail FRONT OFFICE Hourly/Entry Level Employee Full-time 16.00 Hourly US Dollar (USD) pay basis Req ID: VAI000042 Summary Job Summary: The Front Desk/Reservations Agent is responsible for assisting our customers efficiently, courteously, and professionally in all reservations and front desk functions and maintaining a high standard of service and hospitality at all times. Responsibilities: The statements listed below reflect the general details necessary to describe the principle functions of the job identified and shall not be construed as a description of all the work. Essential: Quote available units and rates to potential guests and their agents Book reservations for guests and owners and enter their information correctly into the software Greet, check in, and check out guests and owners; handle walk-ins, stay-overs and room changes Properly follow provided written procedures and run the necessary reports to open and close the office and lobby Answer telephones and direct incoming calls to necessary departments and co-workers Provide guest/owner services including but not limited to giving unit phone numbers to callers, making restaurant reservations, booking golf tee times, ordering lift tickets, providing general information Be able to post and explain incidental guest charges and correct any mistakes Maintain tight control on all room keys and see that they are properly signed out with a valid ID Develop a thorough knowledge of the managed properties, their units and amenities Stay up to date on room rates, packages, discounts and group package plans Count the cash drawer on required shifts, handle cash and give change; balance cash, credit card and check payments with the nightly audit Possess knowledge of credit card and check cashing policies and adhere to them Know department heads and department functions and how they relate to each other Communicate clearly with Housekeeping—inform them of unit’s arrival and departure status, special requests, VIPs, room or date changes, and other pertinent information. Provide them with work orders for required actions Know how to use, read and correct the daily housekeeping report Provide Maintenance with work-orders that contain specific instructions for required/requested repairs; know how to use the radio to communicate emergencies Maintain a professional, team-building relationship with co-workers Develop a thorough knowledge of the computer software used in daily office operations Read and initial log book and memos daily; be aware of the current activities, meetings and groups taking place on the properties Have a general knowledge of Vail and it’s activities Have a good personal appearance and follow uniform requirements provided by supervisor Exhibit friendly, courteous, helpful behavior at all times; be able to react calmly and professionally when solving the problems and/or concerns of our customers Be able to handle a stressful, hectic atmosphere and follow through on duties after numerous interruptions; develop problem solving and decision making skills related to the front office operation Attend job related seminars and meetings when requested by supervisor Be able to work various shifts, weekends and holidays; be flexible with scheduling and assist co-workers with scheduling conflicts whenever possible; be on time for scheduled shifts. Complete recurring tasks as assigned by supervisor including but not limited to filing, payment collection and cancellations, drawer checks, sorting mail, and making keys Perform any other task, either written or verbally requested for the overall good of the operation Non-Essential: Help Sales Manager with projects and site tours when needed. Move files, boxes and equipment to and from storage Deliver mail, packages and messages to units Deliver cribs and rollaway beds Assist guests with their luggage Provide labor assistance in other departments if necessary; provide administrative assistance to management and other departments when asked Shifts are typically 7:30am-3:30pm, 2pm-10pm, and a mid shift (10-6, 11-7 or 12-8) depending on what is needed. Weekends, nights and holidays required. Available from November through mid-April 2020 Qualifications Recommended Skills and Qualifications: Education: High School graduate or GED Certificate. Experience: Typing, Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office, Springer Miller Property Management experience preferred; two years previous working experience in dealing with people required Other Skills: Must be able to get along well with people, work well in a stressful environment, and have some problem solving capabilities. Should also be detail oriented and organized. Able to work mid-November through mid-April
