Job Description Summary:

The Supply Chain Manager HI will ensure optimal levels of inventory of alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverage products for the Hawaii region by promoting the flow of information between Hawaii and the centralized Purchasing Organization in Tustin. The role will provide timely and effective communication to support Purchasing and Sales departments. The role also will develop relationships with suppliers and other outside vendors and be able to represent the specific Young's Market Company location. The Supply Chain Manager HI will work with the demand and supply planning department in Tustin and the Hawaii operations team to investigate Out-of-Stocks, analyze sales trends, prepare reports for inventory reviews, and analyze and identify freight opportunities. The role will bring analytical support and financial focus to help make decisions and develop strategies that will deliver and maximize sales, margin, turnover and inventory management goals. The Supply Chain Manager HI will serve as the liaison between Hawaii, the centralized supply planning team in Tustin, and the land, rail, ocean logistical providers managing the supply chain from point of origin to destination. The role will also be responsible for inventory management and balancing between four island warehouses ensuring we meet service level targets.

Job Description:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Supply Chain Direct and coordinate activities of the Hawaii supply chain operations department to obtain optimum use of systems, planning resources, logistics resources and personnel. Conduct periodic supply chain analysis to proactively identify problems that impact service levels and on-time receiving and/or transfers and implement reasonable, cost effective, and ethical solutions. Ensure adequate days on hand at all times based on demand and order cycles for key Hawaii suppliers (approx. 40) and warehouses/sales teams. Discuss sales projections, sales forecasts, and historical trends with members of the Procurement organization, Portfolio Managers and Sales Channel VPs. Investigate Out-of-Stocks to determine the root cause and promote corrective action. Prevent/report/monitor overstock situations. Work with the demand and supply planning department in Tustin to maintain service level at or above 98% Analyze procurement records such as items purchased, costs, delivery, product quality and inventories and clearly communicate recommendations for cost savings. Manages inbound freight costs for purchase orders Audits and analyzes freight costs to ensure accuracy of costs and resolves discrepancies with carriers Identify service gaps and inefficiencies by tracking and analyzing daily and weekly operations data. Transportation Develop process to logistically manage and balance inventory across the Hawaiian Islands and its four warehouses. Manages product flow from supplier to Hawaii ensuring ETA’s are met and/or challenges addressed with urgency Implement, administer, and evaluate the transportation system effectiveness by collecting and analyzing data in support of key performance metrics. Establishes and monitors transportation KPI’s to help manage and improve transportation supply chain workflows Business Development Develops and cultivates effective and proactive relationships with suppliers and transportation partners to ensure proper support for the business. Communicates needs to achieve all business objectives. Interacts with customs brokers, freight forwarders, ocean carriers and drayage carriers Assists with customs, liner agent and accounts payable dept to clear import shipments to Hawaii Apply the Kaizen philosophy and approach to continuous incremental improvement of performance. Plan, develop, manage, and implement supply chain optimization projects. Directly supervises Hawaii Traffic Specialist by developing a mentoring and coaching program. Recommend measures to improve department performance (reports, computer technology, extended education courses, seminars, quality control procedures, etc.). May perform additional duties as needed. QUALIFICATIONS AND GUIDELINES: EXPERIENCE/TRAINING/EDUCATION: A Bachelor’s degree (BA) from a four-year college or university; 8+ years of leadership and management in the areas of Procurement, Operations or Supply Chain; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in wholesale/retail planning, inventory management or financial analysis. COMMUNICATION SKILLS: This position will also require the ability to summarize and effectively present complex subject matter and respond to questions from suppliers, managers, employees and customers. This position will require the ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, and professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: This position will require the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. This position will also require the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry and have a strong aptitude for analysis. REASONING ABILITY: This position will also require the ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. This position will also require the ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. SKILLS/ABILITIES : High proficiency in PC and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc.) environment and other relevant enterprise applications. Knowledge of Oracle/SAP/Demantra or any modern ERP system with supply chain planning software experience is desired. Ability to accept and create change in a materials environment. Must be highly organized, detail oriented, have the ability to multi-task with a sense of urgency in a fast-moving environment. Able to succeed with ambiguity and working independently Ability to communicate and present effectively, through written and verbal communications.
