Job Description

SENIOR BUYER Purpose/ Summary: The desired candidate will be excellent at multitasking, flexible, and willing to adapt to changes while generating and maintaining all purchase orders to support Raw Material, Capital, MRO and Expense related Purchases for Paradigm Precision combined locations & holdings. These responsibilities include requisition generation, review of MRP needs / actions for assigned commodities, appropriate level signature approvals, order entry, order placement and acknowledgement, online purchase order maintenance and problem resolution with Finance. This individual will work with the Master Planner to insure on time delivery of material to support In addition, the ability to work with suppliers projected deliveries as a proactive resource to help mitigate problems / issues wherever they occur in the supply chain by being ahead of the curve. This successful candidate will also be expected to provide support and training for other staff and to fill in where needed with other activities as capacity and resources align. Responsibilities: Must be able to effectively solicit quotations and negotiate with vendors for materials, equipment, and services to establish the best in class costs to support corporate objectives, as needed. The successful candidate will have experience working with and successfully implementing programs to support Raw Materials, Capital, MRO, and expense purchases in a manufacturing environment; metals industry a plus. A creative and leadership approach to implementing Kan-Ban, JIT, contracting, VMI programs and managing service calls for a variety of needs is desired while supporting our various manufacturing sites domestically and internationally, as needed. • Place orders on basis of best cost, delivery, quality, specifications and service levels desired. • Implement process improvements to minimize tactical administrative requirements, and maximize value add negotiation and supplier development activities. • Report cost savings and cost containment results. • Prepare metrics, reports, to illustrate health and performance of Supply Chain efforts. • Manage competitive bidding process, negotiation, and execution of purchase agreements and maintenance of product specifications. • Must be aware of general budgeting/standard costing management strategies in order to adequately plan and carry out procurement functions in accordance with Corporate and various divisional policies. Schedule projects, and schedules, with manufacturers based on established deadlines and specific product requirements. Follow up with various Production groups and vendors so that required performance dates are achieved. Prepare accurate purchase orders to ensure that all specifications are met by vendor, to include accurate receipt of product. Qualifications: BS in Business, or combination of education and demonstrated work experience required 7+ years Supply Chain / Purchasing experience in a highly regulated environment Strong MRP skills and experience required; Working knowledge of Bills of Materials Proficient use of Internet, Microsoft office, spreadsheets and data entry Ability to read blue prints that include geometric tolerance, and parameters. Extensive experience in supporting Raw Material, MRO, Expense, and Capital spend. Ability to source new items, applies basic qualification standards, and review supplier capabilities. Experience with Profit Key a plus Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities. Education and/or Experience: B.A. or B.S. degree in a related field preferred, and a minimum of 7 years demonstrated success in purchasing in an Aerospace Manufacturing and Outsourcing environment. Knowledge of DOD requirements. Knowledge of the Small Business Programs in DOD environments. Proficiency with Excel, Word, Access, Project and Power Point. Syteline/Symix Operating System experience is preferred. CPM certification a plus. Special Skills: • Ability to oversee several simultaneous projects with the proper delegating skills and the precise amount of involvement without interference, allowing the specifically designated personnel to perform their tasks. • Syteline/Symix business and material planning software systems • Quality assurance methods in the Aerospace manufacturing and outsourcing environment • Excellent negotiator, with outstanding communication skills both written and verbal. • Experience with MRP/ERP, purchasing, fabrication of metal components, Investment Castings, Forgings and assembly. Ability to read mechanical drawings • Experience with lean manufacturing, supplier partnerships, expertise in supplier selection and contract development • The position requires judgment, ingenuity, critical thinking and adherence to established policies and procedures. • The ability to manage projects, gather and analyze data, work in a team environment and meet deadlines is critical to success in this position. Language Skills: Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before the employees in the organization. The ability to manage delinquent suppliers and negotiate effectively is required.
