Job Description

Job Summary The USDA Sponsored Programs Account Manager will fiscally manage grants, cooperative agreements, and subcontracts for sponsored projects funded by United States Department of Agriculture. A successful candidate will direct preparation of, monitor and approve sponsor required fiscal and management reports including routine invoicing and cash management as well as meet established account management expectations, identify deviations from account management expectations and resolve account management problems. Additional responsibilities will include but are not limited to: Maintaining liaison with appropriate sponsor personnel Monitoring developments within sponsoring agency Partnering with Business Managers, Project Directors and other University personnel in the fiscal management of grants and contracts Providing proper interpretation of University, federal and sponsoring agency policies and procedures Award input into post award system and assure quality control of data Working with Contract Analyst, review and accept grants, contracts and subcontracts, prepare and negotiate subcontracts Providing training to faculty, business offices, and subcontractors for issues related to projects within area of responsibility Managing all aspects of billing process including follow up on outstanding invoices Managing Letter of Credit draws and reporting for USDA grants and federal appropriations Continuously seeks to improve account management processes; plays active role on Sponsored Program Services process improvement teams Serving on various committees as assigned to review, make recommendations, and implement policies and procedures related to Business Services Coordinating and/or assisting with other activities, special projects and reports as requested Advising/supervising 1 clerical staff member in the daily management of grants and contracts Required: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Management, Finance, Accounting or related field 2 years of business administration or financial management or related experience In lieu of degree, consideration will be given to an equivalent combination of related education and required work experience; Associate's + 4 years' experience or HS/GED + 6 years of experience Ability to analyze, interpret and implement University policies and procedures Ability to influence and build work relationships among a diverse workforce at all levels Ability to foster a participative supervisory style that utilizes teamwork to successfully guide the work of others A learning orientation to changing technology impacting business processes, e.g. SAP, etc Excellent planning, problem-solving, organizational, project management, customer service and communication skills Personal computer and related software skills Additional Information: Purdue will not sponsor work authorization for this position A background check will be required for employment in this position FLSA: Exempt (Not Eligible For Overtime) Retirement Eligibility: Defined Contribution Waiting Period Purdue University is an EOE/AA employer.
