The HR Assistant is responsible for a broad spectrum of duties in direct support of employees in a 24/7 work environment. This individual provides functional support to the Human Resource Department, which includes processing payroll changes, administering benefits, maintaining records, assisting with recruiting and employee engagement activities and events, providing a high level of customer service to internal and external customers.
Must follow Ahlstrom-Munksjö’s manufacturing and hygiene processes, procedures and policies, as applicable, to the position’s areas of responsibility, in order to meet and maintain the safety, quality, and regulatory compliance requirements for each grade of paper.
Provide functional administrative support to HR managers, as needed.
Assist employees with questions about benefits, compensation, and programs
Process short-term disability and FMLA
Maintain employee records
Maintain ADP HR/payroll system data
Assist with recruiting and staffing and new employee onboarding
Organize or assist with employee recognition activities and employee events
All other assignments assigned
Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
Bachelor's or Associate's degree in a related field
Minimum of one year of experience in a related administrative or human resources and/or benefits role
Proficient in Microsoft Office software, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint required
Experience with Microsoft Publisher a plus
Experience with SharePoint, ADP Vantage HCM, and Kronos experience, a plus
Highly organized with high degree of attention to detail
Excellent time-management and interpersonal skills
Outstanding written composition and oral communication skills required
Must possess a high degree of professionalism in handling confidential information
Ability to relate well to all employees and levels of management
Ability to handle fast-paced work environment
