Responsible for producing electrical control schematic designs that are safe and logically well thought through according to the scope of work established for the project
Apply sound design practices to all aspect of the Controls System including the electrical, communications, panel layouts, etc. to meet the requirements of the project
Responsible to maintain a working knowledge of regulations, codes and governing standards, such as OSHA, ANSI, NFPA-79, NEC, CSA and CE as applicable.
Select and release all hardware components used in the electrical design.
Responsible for completing pre-order requisitions on time and assisting with servo pre-orders
Clearly define integration of third-party machine controls with your schematics
Responsible for the proofing of electrical controls schematics as assigned
Submit all designs for approval prior to release
Provide drawings with maximum clarity to the shop and written instructions as needed for unique applications
Provide assistance to customer service and company electricians as and when required
Responsible for communicating with other Engineers, Department Managers, Project Managers, sales, manufacturing, assembly, tryout, and customers to accurately define, understand, and execute the specific requirements of assigned projects
Responsible for identifying missing or vague information prior to the start of a design and throughout the design process
Clearly communicate any concerns, problems and/or changes affecting the satisfactory completion of the project to the Project Manager or Controls Engineering Manager
Responsible for completing ECR's within established timelines
Provide technical support to project teams in research and development of product revisions and new products
SKILLS & ABILITIES REQUIRED/PREFERRED
Requires basic knowledge of electronic controls.
Able to work with and apply basic electrical and mathematical concepts.
Complete electrical design drawings using computer aided design hardware and software.
Able to respond to questions from managers, and other engineering and shop personnel.
Travel to customer site as required to determine clear scope of project requirements.
Requires Associates Degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school or equivalent combination of education, training, and related experience.
Basic CAD experience including word-processing and database knowledge.
Basic mechanical aptitude.
