Our talent acquisition team is assisting one of our clients in their search for a Controller to take on the responsibility of overseeing the financial and administrative organization. The ideal candidate will be experienced in partnering with the leadership team of a small company to provide accurate and timely information. Responsibilities: Direct responsibility for daily, month-end, quarter-end and year-end accounting functions, including: Maintain the general ledger and all related accounts with proper documentation and records of all company transactions. Responsible for monthly and year-end closing of the general ledger, including the preparation of any adjusting entries. Oversee payroll, benefits, and 401K handled by a single direct report. Manage banking relationships, business insurances, and various other outside service providers. Establish credit limits for customers and oversee collections process. Select vendors for payment. Keep all company notes in current standing. Maintain fixed asset ledgers and depreciation schedules. Participate in planning and controlling company growth and evaluating performance against objectives. Maintain computerized accounting system, backup control and training for support staff. Recommend benchmarks for measuring the financial and operating performance of departments, maintain and update reporting metrics as required. Provide external CPA firm, financial institutions and management with completed/accurate financials in a timely manner. Responsible for accurate cash-flow forecasting, keeping management informed of cash position at all times. Ensure regulatory and tax compliance with local, state, and federal agencies and assist with external review process. Other accounting and general business responsibilities as assigned. Job Skills and Requirements: Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance required 7+ years of accounting experience, at least 4 years as the top accounting person in a smaller distribution and/or manufacturing environment. Strong financial analysis, including cost accounting. Proficient in Microsoft Office and accounting software systems. Knowledge of sales tax, and CAT requirements. Exposure to the human resource function required. Experience working with executives, management, outside service providers and others within the organization to communicate effectively, timely and to appropriately handle sensitive and confidential information.
