The Center for Literacy, Education & Employment (CLEE) is seeking to hire a Coordinator II / Business Coordinator. This position will be located in Knoxville, Tennessee. This level 40, full time position, coordinates workforce development activities with the state funding agency, TN Department of Human Services, Division of Rehabilitation Services (TN DHS/DRS). The position covers multiple counties within the Knoxville region of the state. The position supports the work of TN DHS/DRS through targeted marketing, delivery of business services, and the development of new initiatives to promote employment of qualified job candidates with disabilities. The position works to enhance workplace diversity by developing and conducting training for businesses, providing consultation, and recruiting for companies. These services result in increasing employment outcomes for people served by TN DHS/DRS. The position provides professional development services for the state TN DHS/DRS staff in the area of business services: labor market information, business expectations, and employment resources, etc.
Marketing and Outreach
Conducts targeted marketing activities to identify companies that have potential employment opportunities that match the qualifications and interests of the individuals served by TN DHS/DRS.
Promotes successful diversity employment practices by conducting public relations activities, coordinating education events, and promoting networking activities with business leaders.
Participates in business professional organizations such as Chambers of Commerce, Societies for Human Resource Management, Job Fairs, etc. to create awareness and to educate the business community on the benefits of employing people with disabilities.
Works with other stakeholders, community and state organizations to facilitate outreach to businesses.
Provides employment services to businesses to assist them in recruiting qualified job candidates with disabilities and facilitating the employment process.
Analyzes local labor market trends and business expectations to help match companies with qualified job candidates.
Promotes company job openings with potential applicant referral sources such as TN DHS/DRS; follows up on qualified applicants with the employer.
Provides resources, consultation, and educational information to companies on topics such as disability awareness, job accommodations, accessibility, tax and hiring incentives, disability management in the workplace, etc.
Develops and conducts training for companies on disability employment related topics.
Training and other Professional Development
Develops and conducts training on business services for staff of TN DHS/DRS staff.
Provides professional development for newly hired state agency staff on business services such as marketing, sales, incentives, and business support services in promoting the development of employment for people with disabilities.
Facilitates ongoing training and development of resources for TN DHS/DRS.
Client Services and Training
Coordinates employment services and training for the clients/job candidates of TN DHS/DRS to facilitate successful employment outcomes.
Works to prepare job candidates by developing and presenting curriculum that covers resume development, interviewing skills, employer expectations and other job seeking skills.
Links candidates to job openings at companies that are being serviced by this position. Provides assistance for the job candidate and the employer during the interviewing, hiring and training process. Provides resources and consultation on any necessary job accommodations. Follows-up with employers to assist in the retention phase.
Education: Qualifications include a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
Basic knowledge of Human Resource functions within businesses, especially in the area of recruiting, hiring and training.
Good communication skills and flexibility in relating to a variety of customers: Business representatives, TN DHS/DRS Staff, Counselors, Job candidates with disabilities, etc.
Ability to work independently, multi-task and set priorities.
Ability to use good judgment in making decisions while working independently; identify issues necessary to take to supervisor.
Good presentation skills for speaking engagements, marketing and training activities.
Organizational skills in the area of setting up events and coordinating educational programs.
Regional travel is required on a regular basis; periodically state travel is required.
Ability to develop and update new training materials.
Skills in using Microsoft Office software.
Ability to evaluate job functions and match with skills and abilities of job candidates.
Knowledge of the community resources, state agencies and programs that provide services for people with disabilities to assist in the employment process.
Knowledge of job accommodations and working in an employment setting with people with disabilities.
Required two years of experience working with business and industry in human resources, or in a workforce development role, or in an employment services capacity.
Preferred background in business, sales, education or training.
