Strategic design thinking is key, as well as the ability to drive creatively powerful brand identities. Job Summary Plans, directs and coordinates all activities for creation and approval of design elements relevant to sales and marketing efforts. Ensures design elements for product 2D/3D, packaging, and sales and marketing collateral materials are creatively powerful and consumer relevant. Manages and mentors a design team for efficiency and effective results. Delivers design “go to market” elements in a timely fashion and within the brand’s established identity. Duties and Responsibilities Lead the creative team to transform strategies into innovative design solutions, from broad concept development through implementation Ensure all work is strategically sound, conceptually inspiring and creatively powerful Be a hands-on design expert, shaping the concept and seeing it through to implementation Lead and/or oversee design elements of simultaneous new product initiatives to deliver consumer relevant and on-brand deliverables Lead design team and production team to ensure feasibility of design solutions and articulate design principles and guidelines for implementation Elevate the design skills, discipline and craftmanship of the brand design team Reinforce brands’ visual identity systems and styles and implement it into all design work, ranging from packaging to product to marketing/sales collateral; maintain brand integrity across all platforms Provide clear, constructive direction on content and design solutions Define criteria for assessing concepts/project deliverables and solutions Drive improvement, efficiency and effectiveness in all methodologies and deliverables Continually mentor the design team members for growth, achievement and engagement (conduct appraisals, coach for success, provide logistical & performance support) Proactively maintain expertise in design software packages Lead design presentations as a subject matter expert Use brand design to inspire internal culture and expand design reputation Other duties as deemed necessary. Qualification Requirements Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in industrial design, graphic design, or similar relevant field of study. Minimum Work Experience: Five (5) years of experience in design agency, or in-house design services, with hands-on management of creative team(s)s and design department(s). License(s) / Certification(s): None Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Mastery of basic design principles, standards, and tools Mastery in applying the principles of identity and visual system design across multiple touch points Strong commercial sense and understanding of the cost implications of design decisions Leadership skills to include the ability to effectively lead a team to accomplish simple and broad design assignments Management skills to deliver on-time results under pressure of deadlines for simultaneous projects Ability to inspire creativity in self and team, promote originality, talent and innovation effectively and appropriately Ability to be detail oriented and ensure compliance with brand guidelines Ability to adapt to changes in priorities Ability to be assertive, results oriented and exhibit initiative Ability to thrive in ambiguity with large amounts of autonomy Ability to simplify Strong verbal, written, and listening skills and the ability to communicate effectively within and outside the organization, to various levels of audiences Ability to travel as needed (< 20%) for agency, customer, vendor and internal meetings / projects Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance.
