Job Description

The Sr. Systems Engineer/Tech lead is a self-starting technical SME supporting the implementation and steady-state maintenance for our infrastructure systems comprised of Windows AD, VM, server, & storage. He/she will manage from a strong hands-on perspective the use of current technologies and assist in architecting future technology implementations. This position will report to a US based management team and will be required to communicate frequently with counterparts at several global locations. Key Responsibilities Ensure high availability to infrastructure systems in implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of physical and logical systems Architect implementation of new technologies (ie converged infrastructure) Develop and analyze highly complex system standards, thresholds, and recommendations to maximize system performance Coordinate and lead team members in various technical initiatives Conducts capacity planning reviews with management and approves capacity plans formulated by less experienced personnel Develops strategies to manage the frequency of appropriate support package/patch application Researches current systems technology and serves as subject matter expert on complex systems processes and procedures Manage projects that affect the entire company as well as individual clients Support and act as a technical resource for the Systems, App/Dev, Database and Reporting teams Technically document system topology and design Coordinate technical documentation for backups, email procedures, and all other related documentation as needed Assist in creating and maintaining business continuity including planning, implementation, and disaster recovery Provide recommendations for systems and database additions and upgrades Work with infrastructure counterparts to evaluate new technology Adhere to company guidelines and procedures Participate in an on-call support rotation All other tasks assigned Qualifications and Skills 10+ years of experience in Enterprise IT support 10+ years of Microsoft operating system experience, with a focus in administering Microsoft Server technologies, specifically Windows Server 10+ years' experience installing/configuring/managing Microsoft Windows servers 10+ years' experience administering AD, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, & Microsoft Exchange 6+ years' experience w/Virtualization Technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix AHV) installation, configuration & advanced administration Excellent skillsets in PowerShell and other scripting languages Detailed understanding of computer server architectures and peripherals Senior level working knowledge of virtualization and cloud computing concepts and technologies Senior level working knowledge of vSphere 6 platform suite including but not limited to design, configuration, daily administration, capacity planning, and solving related problems Understanding of and resolving common virtual machine and host server bottlenecks Strong understanding of hosting architectures including database, network, and SAN technologies and concepts Solid knowledge of shared storage solutions (ie LeftHand, NetApp, and/or EMC) Solid understanding of server backup technologies & methodologies Ability to scope and specify technical solutions to satisfy customer requirement Strong understanding of Information Assurance concepts and security in virtual environments Ability to multi-task and work in a deadline driven environment. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills The ability to quickly assess problems and find workable solutions The skills to synthesize information, distill relevant facts and reach logical conclusions Desire to continue skill set improvement.
