Summary: The Director, Oncology Strategy and Execution, will partner with the Sr. Vice President, Translational Sciences and Oncology, to identify, lead and drive advancing Oncology Development wide initiatives with the leadership team and to partner with the team on optimizing and driving execution of Oncology-related deliverables. This role will interface mainly with the SVP, the oncology leadership team, and partner closely with the Executive Assistant, Oncology Lead Development Project Manager and the Oncology TAPM. This role will help ensure initiatives being led by, or impacting, Oncology Development are appropriately surfaced, prioritized, resourced, and executed. This role will also drive more alignment, awareness and understanding of Oncology initiatives across the leadership team and ensure that the SVP and his team are focusing in on the most critical items to drive business success. With the expanding depth and impact of the Translational Sciences and Oncology team, this position will require strategic thinking around key operational issues, capabilities, organizational processes and procedures, and communication; while enabling effective planning and execution. The incumbent will also work with the SVP and the leadership team to identify key cross-functional interdependencies and optimize those working relationships and routines. In addition, the role will work with them in partnership with HR on issues related to culture, employee engagement/experience and talent development. This role is both strategic and tactical, requiring a nimble thinker with strong interpersonal skills, business acumen and the ability to shift between diverse priorities adeptly. Responsibilities: Act as a key thought partner and trusted advisor to the Sr. Vice President of Oncology Development and the oncology leadership team, identifying initiatives, brainstorming & identifying solutions to challenges. Regularly creates and prioritizes key activities for the SVP, Oncology based on business priorities. Identify, prioritize and advance Oncology department initiatives and key execution deliverables across the portfolio; monitor progress and partner with the Oncology DPM and TAPM to update internal team and external stakeholders as appropriate. Coordinate and optimize the quarterly/annual planning /budgeting processes. Identify, support analysis and interpretation and report on key metrics for Oncology – measures how Oncology is executing against its strategy and priorities. Manage and set the internal Oncology leadership team meeting agendas, ensure effective meeting facilitation, action management and follow up. Identify, manage and coordinate the Oncology cross functional process- improvement and business initiatives. Ensures that distillation of key metrics, achievements, issues, risks, mitigation plans are on the cabinet’s radar screen. Manage the follow-up and actions from any Oncology offsites or department meetings. Provides updates and distills key outcomes from department and cabinet meetings and drives more communication through the broad oncology team to ensure the entire team remains updated and aligned. Deliver and coordinate the oncology department meeting strategy, plan and implementation. Includes preparation of all oncology wide communications that are not supported by Corporate Communications. Is part of the oncology workforce/headcount, space planning activities, and other finance related oncology department processes to identify trends and actions from the data review and discussion. Partner with Human Resources to support talent acquisition, onboarding, talent development and departmental optimization by identyfing opportunities for increased engagement and productivity. Build a thorough understanding of all core business functions of the organization and apply that knowledge to effectively manage strategic and tactical initiatives consistent with corporate, GCD and department objectives. Identifies, optimizes and codifies key oncology departmental processes. Helps the team identify best practices, and helps the team avoid “reinventing the wheel” across programs and departmental work. Drives effective communications and execution within oncology and with key stakeholders across REGN. Interface management: Act as representative for SVP, Oncology Development in appropriate meetings to gather information, provide input and facilitate efficient decision making. Ensures communications, processes and resources aligned across organizations. Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree in a science related area is a minimum; MS, MD or PhD is preferable 10 - 15 years of science, drug development and project management experience is required. Deep technical understanding of translational and early clinical development and project /resource management Strong initiative with the ability to manage projects of varying complexity and timelines simultaneously. Ability to dive into departmental or cross functional operational issues, identify root cause, and propose solutions Effective leader with strong interpersonal skills including the ability to build trust, influence and relationships across a large and diverse organization. Strong ability to toggle quickly between strategy and details Ability to handle confidential information with discretion. Strong communications skills, written and verbal, including the ability to summarize complex issues concisely. Ability to prioritize self and others on the most critical activities to advance oncology work and for patients High standards of excellence and attention to detail.
