Talascend is currently seeking a Senior Staff Firmware Engineer for a direct hire opportunity with our client located in Calabasas, CA. OVERVIEW: Our client is leading the way in testing, assurance, analytics, and security to assure the capabilities and performance of networks, network equipment, devices, and services. We are building next generation technologies and products that directly impacts how our customers build, deploy, and scale their networks. We are looking for embedded software architects and tech leads will be responsible for the architecture, design, and implementations of these solutions. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: Lay out architectures and designs that are simple enough to be built and work. Provide technical leadership through all phases of software development including design, implementation, and deployment. Create technology proposals and gain support for their use/deployment. Make trade-off decisions: What needs to be first for maximum impact or learning? What adds complexity for no value? Contribute as a strong hands-on technical member in project development activities. Provide leadership, guidance and/or supervision to colleagues on a regular basis. Strive to raise everyone's game, including your own. POSITION REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, or related technical field with a minimum of 12 years of relevant work experience. Master's degree preferred but not required. A minimum of 8 years experiencing developing software, preferably in a product development company Experience building carefully designed software products from scratch Exceptional C/C++ skills in embedded software development Extensive experience in Linux OS, kernel and drivers, multi-threading, multi-core programming, debugging, and performance tuning Proficient in interfacing with hardware building blocks Proficient in standard software engineering best practices Keen sense of ownership, urgency, and drive Demonstrated ability to achieve stretch goals Excellent communications skills DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Autodidact, able to learn new things on the fly Proficient in virtual technologies, hypervisors, DPDK, SR-IOV, containers Familiarity with networking, telecom technologies Comfortable talking with customers and anyone internally who has valuable input Communicates and thinks in a structured manner Excessive attention to detail and code-craft Good judgment earned through multiple successes and failures #ind123 We thank all applicants for their interest.
