To support this process, we are looking for an experienced Senior Business Systems Analyst to join our team in beautiful Newport Beach, CA. As Sr. Business Systems Analyst, you’ll play a key role in our Digital Transformation ’New Business’ Journey Team, analyzing and translating business for technical development staff, business partners and management. You’ll be part of a dedicated, self-organizing, cross-functional Agile team, working with the Product Owner to refine backlog and prioritize use cases, as well as driving understanding of data and process requirements. If you’re experienced in Financial Services and experienced in Agile and SCRUM methodology, you’re exactly who we’re seeking. Technical capabilities aside, if you’re a self-starter with great attention to detail, and able to use individual judgment and initiative while working with minimal supervision, you’re an ideal addition to our team.   What You’ll Do   Analyze complex business problems, evaluate business needs, and clarify requirements, data, processes, and systems for complex technology projects Work with Product Owner to refine backlog, prioritize use cases and drive understanding of data and process requirements Develop solutions to complex problems, requiring the regular use of ingenuity and creativity, within the larger context of the business needs and objectives; coordinating with business areas, Digital Transformation teams and Technology on overlapping functions Estimate time requirements for completing features, and assist in overall scope definition, management and tracking; facilitate the development process Work closely with other teams to assist with integration design, development, implementation and documentation through the creation of system/flow diagrams Act as primary point of contact for the team during development to clarify business requirements, resolve issues, and make recommendations as business impacts arise Coordinate testing and code promotions with developers, testers and DevOps engineers. Participate in problem resolution Support user acceptance testing and adoption of changes through planning, test-scenario identification, communication, and execution Communicate technical requirements with software engineers by translating business needs into data models, contracts, and automatable test cases Tech & Tools You’ll Use Agile methodology, Vantage, wmA, DSS, FAST, Postman, RAML, OpenAPI, JSON, XML, SQL, VASE, SOAP Services, RESTful Services Factors for Success Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from four-year college or university; or equivalent experience 8+ years of business analysis and/or systems analysis experience in a Financial Services; experience with Annuities or Life Insurance products preferred Experience documenting data and process requirements for the benefit of engineering and product development High comfort-level navigating complex relational data models using SQL, XML, JSON and related tools Independent thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to deal with ambiguity Excellent verbal and written communication skills on both business and technical subjects; strong interview and meeting facilitation skills; ability to express complex technical concepts in business terms and vice versa Demonstrated experience working with Agile Methodologies, where team members self-organize and hold each other accountable; ability to function as team lead for large and complex changes and mentor other less experienced analysts Experience with Agile software development (SCRUM Master or Product Owner certification a plus); knowledge of related contract administration systems preferred (Vantage, wmA, DSS, FAST) At Pacific Life, we know we’re better when you can be your whole self – both in and out of the office.
