Job Description

The SAP Functional Analyst is responsible for the design, adoption, and optimized execution of the SAP enterprise resource planning across NatureWorks’ current global business. As we look ahead to growing the company, the system’s architecture should be sufficiently robust to support a more globally diverse business structure. The individual will work collaboratively across all departments of the organization to help bridge the gap between users and SAP, improve the management of existing business processes and focus on entire management of the SAP system from beginning to end, introducing systematic controls and procedures that impact efficiencies, enhance profitability, and assist the organization in meeting its business objectives. SAP Optimization and Execution (90%) Provide key functional support on SAP Finance and Supply Chain Modules. Serve as a liaison between SMEs (subject matter experts), internal technical (IT) team, and external consultants. Develop competencies for internal SAP SMEs. Gather and examine business issues and ask clarifying questions to define solution requirements. Breaks complex business problems down into manageable processes that impact SAP transactions and functions. Assess SAP capability against business requirements, identify alternative paths to solutions. Set-up tests to validate modules and support end-to-end integration testing. Understand the impact of system changes on stakeholder and customer experiences. Coordinate the thorough testing of new solutions and their impact on other processes to ensure successful implementations. Contribute to the completion of specific programs and projects. Translates business requirements into SAP functional design specifications for key work streams; may also support the creation of technical designs. Designs effective process flows to meet solution requirements. Prepare and deliver status updates to various levels of business and IT management, ensuring all stakeholders are engaged appropriately in the system configuration process. Serve as a “trusted advisor” and function as a key point of contact for all SAP system related improvements. Teach other project and/or support team resources about specific application functionality through formal training or informal knowledge transfer. Develops and delivers effective user training materials and programs. Provide hands-on support to project and third-party support teams during implementation of solutions. Ensure the documentation of solution designs and any changes to designs are reflected in project and support documentation. Initiate and nurture productive relationships with SMEs. Builds knowledge and capability of SMEs to the point where they can effectively provide first-level support to user community. Considers future company needs (for example, a second production facility) as the user team defines structure, process, and staff. Strong written communication skills including business and functional requirements, and business presentations. Identify when the services of our SAP Basis Support and SAP Functional Specialists are required. Work closely with NatureWorks’ IT and external vendor to implement changes, updates, and new functionality as needed. QUALIFICATIONS: Education and Experience Required: Extensive knowledge of SAP Finance and supply chain functionality Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Accounting, Information Systems, or other relevant areas of study Minimum of 5 years’ experience optimizing SAP systems. Experience in designing cross-functional business systems requirements and solutions. Experience with the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint…). Experience working closely with external SAP developers. Understands project management skills. Education and Experience Preferred: SAP certification(s) Experience crafting and delivering SAP training programs Experience working in the chemical industry or process manufacturing. Other (knowledge, skills, and abilities): Knowledge of IT, financial systems, and/or logistics. Sales Force and SharePoint experience. Experience with SAP enhancements, upgrades, or implementations. Experience with SAP reporting or third-party reporting tools for SAP. Able to accomplish assignments, goals, and objectives in a timely manner with minimal supervision or direction. Good interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills to be applied with internal staff and external parties. Strong customer focus and service orientation with the ability to interact effectively with internal customers at all levels in a cross-cultural setting. Promotes cooperation within the team and between teams. Demonstrated ability to adapt to a challenging and developing environment; willingness to take on new responsibilities as our business evolves. Ability and willingness to take on additional projects and tasks. WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: This position works in an office environment. Regular business hours; some after-hours work will be required on evenings and weekends. Requires use of office equipment such as computers, fax machines, telephones, and copiers. Required sitting and computer-related activities for extended periods of time. Ability to occasionally lift up to 10 pounds; will follow Company safety and ergonomic guideless to avoid injury. Working in Manufacturing Plant Environment 10%. Travel 10%.
