To develop, prepare and coordinate engineering projects; quoting processes; and related documents in a manner that will define Multisource best practice and ensure completion of scheduled projects. Lead and conceptualize process improvements. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES: Ensures the accuracy of all engineering documentation and its proper transmittal both internally and externally. Create cost estimates for new or existing projects consistent with customer specifications and Company cost objectives. Works closely with manufacturing personnel to de-bug programs and set-up sheets to ensure that all programs are designed to produce the correct parts in the most efficient manner. Gathers information on speeds, feeds, and tooling requirements for various materials and machining practices. Writes processes, prepares drawings and estimates time standards for all orders prior to their release to manufacturing. May write or assist in writing process sheets and may apply or assist in applying time standards to orders prior to their release to manufacturing. Designs or assist in designing jigs, fixtures, tooling, and special production equipment required to meet customer specifications as needed. Assists other departments on matters pertaining to the development of processes to ensure all pertinent facts are fully and properly considered. Assists other departments in solving or responding to quality related problems. Monitors the progress of jobs released to the production floor, performs time standards and updates processes when appropriate. Quotes manufacturing cost estimates based on customer specifications and requirements. Participates in the development of process methods and procedures, work simplification practices and other process improvement activities. Keeps currently informed of new and/or improved mechanical engineering technology as a basis for influencing, in a positive way, the direction of future project development and/or application. Develops, maintains, and portrays a high degree of professionalism and technical competence both within and outside the organization, encouraging excellence through Recommends procedures, equipment, and method changes to facilitate the attainment of quality control standards and continuous improvement. Keeps the Site Manager informed of important developments, potential problems, and related information necessary for effective management. Coordinates/communicates programming plans and activities with others, as appropriate, to ensure a coordinated work effort and team approach. Performs related work as apparent or assigned. DELIVERABLE OUTCOMES: Quote Activities: Create cost matrix for common processes and services required with a goal of reducing quote lead-times to 24 hours upon receipt of RFQ. Implement quoting KPI s for number of quotes performed, turnaround, and accuracy. Provide weekly KPI s to sales and operations. Engineering Projects and Priorities: Lead company initiatives on specific engineering projects. Work with operations to determine project priorities. Provide timelines of completion, resources required, and biweekly status updates. Direct Reports: Supervise members of quoting team and perform annual reviews, broadcast company priorities and initiatives for all quoting activities, provide training, and recruit employees as needed. QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: High school education, plus at least 2 years of technical training in CNC/NC programming. REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Thorough knowledge of shop math through trigonometry. Knowledge of machining processes, tool and fixture design, time standards, and machine center capabilities. Project management principles (i.e. Work Breakdown Structure, Gantt charting, critical path management, etc.) EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: At least 10 years of progressive milling and turning CNC programming experience, some of which must be with CAD/CAM software in a precision machining job shop environment (i.e. GibbsCAM, SolidWorks, MasterCAM, etc). SKILLS ABILITIES: Demonstrated examples of initiative and aggressiveness in completing programs; including leading small cross-functional projects that span multiple MultiSource sites. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written, with a wide variety of manufacturing personnel and others at all levels.
